Brightly colored walls decorated with fun skateboards lead to a game room complete with arcade-style games.  The sounds of a child’s laughter escape from a nearby room.  Although not a typical setting for a dentist, Roswell Pediatric Dentistry delights in creating a fun, welcoming environment for children of all ages.  “My philosophy is that in order to relate to a child, you have to be a child, and there is nothing that I enjoy more than being able to do that every day.  My goal is to provide each and every child and parent with an enjoyable, relaxing, personable, and interactive experience just as I would expect with my own,” expresses Dr. Vishant Nath.  In the residency program, Dr. Nath completed, he has undergone extra training to gain specific skills in dealing with children, including dental emergencies, sedation, behavior issues, and special needs patients.  “The majority of our patients warm up to us instantly.  We see kids day in and day out, and we all have kids of our own so we have a good understanding of what a child needs to become comfortable.”

Roswell Pediatric Dentistry is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with top-quality staff trained and committed to serving children and their parents, while making dental care fun and effective for their patients.  New patients are introduced to the dentist, the environment, and the staff during a ‘happy visit’ to encourage an inviting, safe ambiance for the parent and child.  “If the child is comfortable with the happy visit, we take baby steps from there,” explains Dr. Nath.  “If we see that the child is doing really well, then we go to the next step: we do the exam.  From there, we ask the parents if they want their child’s teeth cleaned, but we typically don’t do this unless the child is at least 2½ or 3 years old.”  Dr. Nath encourages parents to establish the habit of dental visits with children in their early years so they will continue the habit throughout their lifetimes.  He recommends having an established dentist by the time the child is one year old to promote healthy teeth, positive dental habits, and to treat the child in case of emergencies.

As the end of the year approaches, Dr. Nath advises parents to maximize their dental benefits and complete any suggested treatment plans before the new year begins.  “It is very important that treatment for a child is not delayed,” says Dr. Nath.  “A child’s teeth are much more prone to decay, which happens much more quickly since baby teeth have less enamel than adult teeth.  Decay needs to be stopped as soon as possible due to the rapid progression of decay in baby teeth.  Unrestrained decay can lead to other problems such as toothaches, infections, speech problems, and possibly damage to adult teeth.”  Dr. Nath encourages his existing patients’ parents to make a free consultation appointment with any questions they may have, at any time.  The goal at Roswell Pediatric Dentistry is to educate parents on their child’s teeth through consultations and x-rays.  X-rays are especially important as they are the only way to diagnose cavities in between teeth.  Dr. Nath also invites parents to obtain a second opinion concerning any diagnosis or treatment suggested by Roswell Pediatric Dentistry to ensure the parents’ peace of mind.

A child’s smile is a beautiful thing to be enjoyed.  Keeping our children’s teeth healthy so their smiles last a lifetime is not always easy, and it is an often neglected priority.  Financial concerns should not be a reason to delay treatment since Roswell Pediatric Dentistry is more than willing to work with your insurance provider or develop a payment plan to attain the necessary treatment for your child’s dental health.
