School is here! It is arriving sooner than later each year! School brings back routine after a summer of vacations, holidays, family time, and visiting relatives. Speaking of summer fun, you can view the Fourth of July’s activities on pages 36 and 37. With all the fun, it often seems that we have to go back to school and work just to rest.
School brings structure back into our lives. Order is once again established, or so we like to think. The role that school plays in the life of our community is larger and more critical than ever. Around Town Magazine’s goal to celebrate our community begins with a focus on our schools and the families they serve. You can find some special views in our Back to School section beginning on page 44.
On the cover this month is Pete’s Plumbing, Inc., a third generation family-owned small business with more than fifty years of experience. Owners Julie and Rick Lippitt are committed to the same quality, efficiency, and that “personal touch” which Rick’s father and grandfather demonstrated. See pages 16 and 17 for their story.
If you own or operate a small business in the Alpharetta/Milton/Windward area, you may have received our first issue of Around Town Small Business Journal. Within this journal you will find stories of businesses and information critical to staying informed about the great market for free enterprise located between
I-575 and I-85. There is a reason it is called the Diamond Demographic, and we hope to encourage those brave souls who plan to move out into the wild frontier of small business ownership. Small businesses are your neighbors and they form the backbone of this country. Around Town Small Business Journal is mailed to more than 10,000 small to medium size businesses in this wonderful market. Pretty amazing isn’t it?
There is so much in this month’s Around Town issue that we are sharing with you about the activities and adventures that your community has to offer. We are confident that the wonderful people who live here, and the fantastic business community that is ready to provide you with the services and goods that you need, provides for great reading. We hope that you enjoy the magazine and it becomes a point of celebration in your homes each month.
P.S. September is Grandparents Month; don’t forget to have your kids send in their nomination for Around Town Alpharetta/Milton’s “2007 Grandparents of the Year.” See page 21 for details.
