The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was a sponsor for the successful 2007 Planet3Games Summer Nationals held recently at Webb Bridge Park. The games included a myriad of recreational sports, incorporating youth participation and were comprised of tournaments for boys’ and girls’ recreational youth sports leagues ages 8-18, for baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, and hockey. Tournaments took place in several Alpharetta venues, including Webb Bridge Park, North Park, Union Hill, and the Alpharetta Community Center.
Howard Daniel, III, President of Planet3Sports, said “A particularly memorable event took place during the boys’ soccer competition; an overtime game won by penalty kicks. The game was exciting and breathtaking to the last winning shot.”

The Family Fun Festival at Webb Bridge Park marked the end of the three-day tournament, which attracted more than 5,000 people according to Daniel. The Alpharetta CVB was on hand during the tournament to answer questions and assist visitors to Alpharetta with becoming more familiar with the area. The Alpharetta CVB also distributed Visitor Guides, Sports Guides, lip balm, and a $50 certificate to Sage Woodfire Tavern.
For future events, Daniel hopes to continue increasing tournaments in the events of soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, hockey, and tennis — in addition to adding spirit cheer, fast pitch softball, boxing, track and field, and volleyball to next year’s tournament slate. “We would love to return to Alpharetta with the Second Annual Planet3Sports Summer Nationals — continuing to bring the citizens of Alpharetta access to top ranked amateur sporting events,” added Daniel.
