Happy New Year! But is it?

Looking back at the "highlights" of 2007, you have to cringe at some of the tragedies that took place. But it was also full of kindness and compassion as Alpharetta, Milton and Windward reached out to those who were, and are, hurting. It is always amazing and refreshing to see how our communities rise to any occasion to support each other.

The city of Alpharetta continues its 2008 sesquicentennial celebration with the unveiling of an all new Alpharetta History Walk. Join Mayor Arthur Letchas at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 7 for a walk through historic downtown Alpharetta. Members of the Alpharetta and surrounding communities, visitors, and city officials are invited to be a part of the inaugural Alpharetta History Walk.

In this time of year for goal setting and plans, it is so easy to miss the moments. Our Around Town Alpharetta/Milton/Windward 2008 Tournament of Roses winners, Belle and Willis Pruitt, have had 69 wonderful years together. Read some of these special memories on pages 14 and 15.

In this issue, you will also find the nomination form for the Best of the Best businesses in Alpharetta, Milton and Windward. It is an adventure operating a business, something like riding a rollercoaster. The life of your business is based on your customers’ perceptions of how well you deliver the service or product you present. With the 2008 Around Town Alpharetta/Milton/Windward Readers’ Choice Awards, you, as the community of Alpharetta, Milton and Windward, have an opportunity to let your voice be heard in selecting and celebrating the best of the best businesses in these communities. Your opinion is really the only one that counts. Turn to pages 28 and 29 to nominate your favorites.

Our cover this month features Atlanta Dog Trainer. Owner Susie Aga and her team of behavioral and training specialists can transform your dogs and puppies into adorable and obedient friends. Read how they accomplish this feat on pages 16 and 17.

As we enter 2008, we will be looking for things to celebrate in the communities of Alpharetta, Milton and Windward. We will capture these moments in pictures and in words and encourage you to participate with us. After all, it is your life and your community that you will see reflected in Around Town Alpharetta/Milton/Windward.
